Abstract: | Polarized Raman intensities have been obtained from thin films of uniaxially oriented atactic polystyrene. The study was made using the 623 cm?1 radial skeletal η6b vibration of the benzenering. Values of the fourth-order as well as second-order terms in the expansion of the orientation distribution were obtained for draw ratios between 1.5 and 7.7. Values for P2(cosθ) agree well with the values obtained from infrared dichroism. |
