Rational solution of a general fifth-order shallow water-wave model

Abstract:Simple but novel rational solutions of a fifth-order Korteweg–de Vries (KdV)-like equation are presented. Travelling wave solutions, which reduce to these rational solutions in the long-wavelength limit, are also presented. Other aspects of travelling wave solutions are discussed, including the possibility of additional integrations. The truncated Painlevé expansion is developed and it is shown how this and related forms lead to a variety of solutions.
