Synthesis and structural characterization of palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes containing a chiral P,N-donor iminophosphine ligand

Abstract:A new chiral P,N-donor iminophosphine ligand was used to synthesize a series of palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes. Single crystal X-ray analysis showed that in all cases the P,N ligand forms a six-membered chelate ring, and the square-planar coordination of the metal atom is completed by two halide ions, two methyl groups, or one methyl group and one halide ion. In the latter instance, the methyl group is cis to the phosphorus atom.
