| Abstract: | The space-uniform amplitude envelope of the ion-temperature-gradient driven turbulence is unstable to small perturbations and evolves to nonuniform, solitonlike modulated profiles. The induced poloidal asymmetry of the transport fluxes can generate spontaneous poloidal spin-up of the tokamak plasma. |
