Abstract:High-precision attenuation measurements can now lead to a direct assessment of scattering models in the X-ray regime. This is true not just at high energies but even when scattering cross-sections typically lie below 0.1% of the photoelectric absorption cross-section. This allows model-independent results to be obtained in these attenuation experiments for the first time.
Keywords:Attenuation coefficients   X-ray scattering   Atomic form factors
