Abstract:Owing to its unique acid property, uniform pore structure and good hydrothermal and chemical stability,zeolite has been widely used in petrochemical, coal chemical and fine chemical industries. Acid activity and pore structure are common factors used to characterize the behavior of the zeolite catalysts. For decades, research effort has been mostly made to the basic understanding and rational design of acid active sites of zeolite, while the interaction between active sites, reactive molecules, and the pore micro-environment was ignored. Benefiting from the development of advanced chemical analysis technology and chemical theoretical calculation science, the study of the microenvironment in the pores of zeolite catalysts has attracted more and more attention. In this paper, the development of zeolite confinement effect theory, its influence on the molecule diffusion, adsorption and reaction, and its new applications are briefly overviewed.
