Thioacids as spot test reagents for palladium

Summary Thioglycolic and thiomalic acids are found to be very sensitive reagents for the detection of palladium and are easily applicable over a wideph range. The reactions as far as the noble metals are concerned are remarkably selective. The acids do not possess the objectionable odor of many other thio compounds. Indirect evidence of the composition of the compound formed by the interaction of palladium and thioglycolic acid is described.

Zusammenfassung Es wurde gefunden, daß Thioglykolsäure und Thioäpfelsäure sehr empfindliche Tüpfelreagenzien für den Nachweis von Palladium sind und imph-Intervall von 0,5 bis 9 verwendet werden können. Der Palladiumnachweis ist mit beiden Säuren fast spezifisch, falls nur die Metalle der Goldgruppe vonNoyes undBray in Betracht gezogen werden. Die beiden Säuren sind frei von dem widerlichen Geruch der meisten Thioverbindungen.Für die Zusammensetzung der Verbindung, die sich von Palladiumsalz und Thioglykolsäure bildet, wird ein indirekter Beweis gegeben.
