Abstract: | A three component reaction of aryl aldehydes and malononitrile with ethyl 2,3-butadienoate catalyzed by triphenylphosphine has been developed. The reaction furnishes highly functionalized cyclopentenes in moderate to good yields in a one-pot process. |
