Calculation of a laser with a self-clearing optical shutter

The filter operates with a two-level system and affects the emission kinetics of the laser; allowance is made for the effects of pumping in the laser and of relaxation in the laser and filter. It is found that oscillation with several peaks is possible. The requirements for single-peak operation are formulated. Examples are given of emission calculations, with analytic estimates of the output power, energy, and pulse length.
