Yang Wanli's Societies of Poetry and Politics in Xiaozong Period

In ancient China, Shi's official status determined the fact that their societies of poetry were closely related to politics. In his lifetime, Yang Wanli created many such societies, most whose members held similar political viewpoints. They demonstrated their influence and solidarity in determining the Miao-hao (the title in the imperial temple) of Gaozong and in Peixiang (enjoying the imperial offering after death) at Gaozong's temple.
