The layer-like character of films adsorbed on cleavage faces as seen by neutron diffraction

Layers of ³⁶Ar and CD₄, adsorbed on the cleavage faces of MnI₂ and PbI₂, have been studied by neutron diffraction. In this article the variation due to adsorption of the (0001) peak of the substrate is discussed. The layer-like character of the adflim is demonstrated. It is shown that the distance of an adlayer to another or to the substrate can be estimated from the experimental data.
