| Abstract: | Phenyl 2-(6-methylpyridyl) ketone oxime (R) can be used for the determination of copper in alkalis, the orange CuR, being extracted into isoamyl alcohol and its absorbance measured. Owing to the stereochemical blocking action of the 6-methyl group, iron does not interfere. In acid solution an orange-yellow compound CuR(3), is formed, also extractable into isoamyl alcohol. |
