Photoionization of the 2s, 2p and 3s subshells of Mg+

Abstract:We present calculations of total and partial photoionisation cross sections for the 2s, 2p and 3s subshells of Mg+ from their ionisation thresholds up to a photon energy of 220 eV. Photoelectron angular distribution parameters are also calculated for the 2p subshell. Oscillator strengths are given for discrete structure, and calculated energy levels compared with experimental values. The significance of electron correlations and two electron excitation for this atomic ion is discussed.
