| Abstract: | A sensitive gas-flow meter is described for use in combination with a preparation of immobilized methanogenic bacteria. Upon administration of substrate, the gas formed is quantified by using this gas-flow meter. When a high density of the extremely slow growing and metabolizing methanogenic bacteria was added, it was possible to quantify and correlate samples with respect to their content of biodegradable matter. |
