Abstract: | The polyfluorinated biphenyls investigated were synthesized by reaction of fluorinated anilines with excess benzene and characterized by spectroscopic methods. Upon pulse radiolysis of the polyfluorinated biphenyls in dichloroethane radical cations are formed. By comparison with unsubstituted biphenyl the fluoro-substitution does not exert a strong effect on the optical absorption spectra or the first half-lives of the biphenyl radical cations. |
