Abstract: | Amorphous TiFe, ZrFe and HfFe alloys prepared by low temperature implantation of about 10 at% Fe were found to have superconducting transition temperatures, Tc, enhanced above the values of the pure crystalline elements. In addition, Tc = 2.6 K for TiFe is about 1 K higher than Tc of the equivalent amorphous TiCu alloy. A correlation between the recently observed dband behavior of similar binary transition metal alloys and the forming ability is extended to (Ti,Zr,Hf)-Fe alloys to explain their superconducting properties. |
