Abstract: | Two tree encoding techniques for arrays are compared and contrasted. It is shown that the pyramids and their generalization ford-dimensional arrays are much superior to binary tree encodings for three measures; access time, storage and average proximity.Work supported by a National Research Council of Canada Grant No. A-7700. |
