Abstract: | The paper substantiates the use of high-current megavolt diodes with a ring cathode and a high aspect ratio (R/d≫1) as radiation sources for irradiating objects with a large area (500–1000 cm2). The size of the irradiated area is shown to depend weakly on the nature of the angular dependence of the radiator for moderate energies (0.5–1.5 MeV) of accelerated electrons.
