| Abstract: | A study has been made of the reaction of aryl oxygen compounds with elemental fluorine in hydrogen fluoride and acetonitrile. Hydrogen fluoride acted as a good solvent in the reaction of salicylic acid, salicylaldehyde and phenyl salicylate. Salicylalcohol gave a mixture of fluorination and oxidation products. Diphenyl derivatives were also fluorinated and gave mainly monofluoro compounds. |
