Shock Waves due to Grain-Charge Variation in Dusty Plasmas

Nonlinear electrostatic wave structures in plasmas containing variable-charge dust grains, Boltz-mann electrons, and inertial ions are investigated. The charge variation is assumed to be caused by electron and ion currents at the grains. It is found that intense shock waves can exist. The dissipation in such shock waves originate from the process of dust charging.
