| Abstract: | We report the determination of the barriers to methyl group rotation in N-methyl acetamide. These were, for N-methyl V3 = 590 cm?1, and for C-methyl V3 = 670 cm?1. Some previous spectral assignments of this compound have been confirmed and one new band at about 160 cm?1 is shown to involve the motion of both methyl groups. |
