Abstract: | This lecture describes our understanding of why pions are light and how this is related to the structure of the QCD vacuum. The other lectures, on (i) the hadron world, (ii) dynamical mass generation and (iii) the Schwinger-Dyson approach to strong physics, make up the course Building hadrons with quarks, string and glue. |
