Abstract: | X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to investigate the surface functional groups of natural diamond and graphite. An analysis of the spectra of the core shells made it possible to establish the presence of hydroxyl (ether), carbonyl, and carboxyl-like groups. It is shown that it is possible to identify acid oxyfunctional groups within the framework of a cluster approach.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Éksperimental'naya Khimiya, Vol. 25, No. 4, pp. 490–495, July–August, 1989. |
