Refractive fringe diagnostics of laser produced plasmas |

| Abstract: | A simple formula which enables one to determine the electron densities of laser produced plasmas using refractive fringes in shadowgrams and Schlieren images is deduced and applied to experimental data. The results agree well with those obtained by conventional interferometry. |
