| Abstract: | TiCl4-catalyzed Diels-Alder additions of the acrylate of commercial D-pantolactone to cyclopentadiene, isoprene and butadiene proceed with very high diastereofacial selectivity. Practical and mechanistic aspects of these reactions are discussed. |
