Through the efforts of several generations,the research on metallurgical certified reference materials has achieved a fairly high level in our country. We have a rich assortment,sufficient quantity as well as a good quality which has approached or reached the advanced level of the world. In this article,the important role which has been played by metallurgical certified reference materials in the development of metallurgical science and technology and improvement of the variety and quality of metallurgical products has been discussed in eight respects. On the other hand, the development of the metallurgical science and technology and the modern analytical technology have also promoted the development of the research on metallurgical certified reference materials.
