Oxovanadium(V)-catalyzed enantioselective Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley cyanation of aldehydes using acetone cyanohydrin

Abstract:
Oxovanadium(V)(salen) complex 4 was found to catalyze Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley cyanation of aliphatic aldehydes with good to high enantioselectivity. This cyanation showed a positive nonlinear effect.
