On the shock induced instabilities in collisionless plasma

Abstract:Firehose, mirror and ion-acoustic instabilities behind MHD shock waves are discussed for collisionless anisotropic plasma with heat fluxes. For the parallel shock wave it has been demonstrated that initially stable plasma can be destabilized by the shock which leads to turbulence generation in the downstream flow. Upstream parameter domains are determined where such destabilization occurs.
