| Abstract: | Polarizing microscopy, selection reflection measurements, and optical rotatory dispersion studies are used to investigate the stability of all three blue phases as a function of temperature and cholesteric pitch. The results demonstrate that as the cholesteric pitch is increased, BP III first becomes unstable, then BP II, and finally BP I. |
