Temperature scaling of absorption coefficients

A recently published conversion of room temperature absorption coefficients to absorption cross-sections at standard temperature, may lead to large errors due to inadequate temperature scaling. Specific examples are given and the general relation for temperature scaling of absorption coefficients is derived. Application is presented to temperature profiling of the atmospheres using differential absorption lidar measurements.
