| Abstract: | A new method for determining transition probabilities of atomic and molecular system has been demonstrated. It is based on a measurement of the refractive index using the phase matching condition in frequency mixing or harmonic generation experiments. For the oscillator strength of the first Rb-resonance line a value of 1.07 ± 0.02 has been obtained. |
