Abstract: | A 5 g sample of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) deposited from the vapour on to a cadmium substrate at 5 K is shown to be amorphous by the absence of Bragg peaks in its neutron diffraction spectrum. Simple analysis shows that the range of correlations in amorphous CCl4 extends only to next-nearest neighbours. |
