Parametric generation and absorption of tunable vacuum-ultraviolet radiation controlled by laser-induced autoionizing-like resonances in the continuum

Abstract:The effect of a strong additional laser field on the absorption and parametric generation at the atomic transition between ground state and continuum is analyzed. The possibility is shown of inducing the resonant decrease of absorption and enhancement of the nonlinear susceptibility at arbitrary range of the continuum.
