Vibrational Spectroscopy Studies of Internal Modes of Stillwellite Type Compounds ABPO 5(A=Ca,Sr,Ba) by Isotopic Replacement
Abstract:Abstract The vibrational spectra of stillwellite type compounds ABPO 5 (A=Ca,Sr or Ba) have been systematically investigated by isotopic replacement 11 B 10 B *. The stretching frequencies of the BO 4 and PO 4 groups have been assigned in the region of 1200 360 cm -1 . Althouhg some of the observed frequencies can not be attributed to a vibration of specifically symmetric(v 1) or asymmetric(v 3) with respect to the special boron or phosphorus atoms due to the interactions of the atoms, the study of isotopic species is an effective way to prove experimentally that such interactions do really occur.
