A study of the cationic solid-state polymerization of 1,3,5-trithiane

The effect of various reaction parameters, such as temperature, catalyst, and concentration, on the cationic-initiated polymerization of 1,3,5-trithiane in solid state was studied and the apparent activation energies were estimated. A simple mathematical formula to describe the observed kinetic curves is proposed. The features observed are interpreted in terms of disordering a crystal structure during polymerization.
