Abstract: | One of the suspected micro-mechanical mechanisms causing electric fatigue in ferroelectric materials is the hindering and blocking of domain wall movement. These blocking or pinning phenomena are thought to be due to point defects which interact with domain walls and applied external loads. A phase field model employing the spontaneous polarization as an order parameter is used to simulate the inhomogeneous material behavior. The coupled field equations are solved using the Finite Element Method. The influence of a stationary point defect on a domain wall is shown in a numerical simulation.
