Abstract:In this paper, the twin-shear stress strength theory is used to analyze the ultimate load of a strength-differential wedge and a solution which takes account of the strength-difference effect and the intermediate main stress effect is obtained. The solution is of importance for giving full play to materials' strength potential ability. Finally, its application ingeotechnical engineering is discussed.
