| Abstract: | The author of the original paper fully recounted the recent works and results achieved by the experts of the Mathematics Research institute of the USSR Academy of Science in the field of approximation theory. The including subjects are extreme properties of polynomials, direct and reverse theorems of approximation of one-dimensional periodic and non-periodic functions, method of linear approximation, approximation of multi-dimensional functions, N-widths of calsses functions and quadrature formulas. In connection with the presented achievements,the author also supplied relevant materials of the predecessors. |
