Abstract: | Titanium tetrachloride is a very effective catalyst for the addition of lithium aluminum hydride to olefins. This facile reaction provides a convenient laboratory method for the selective reduction of nonconjugated diolefins or for the selective preparation of haloolefins from diolefins. |
