On various aspects of evolutionary structural optimization for problems with stiffness constraints

Abstract:An evolutionary structural optimization (ESO) method for problems with stiffness constraints which is capable of performing simultaneous shape and topology optimization has been recently presented. This paper discusses various aspects of this method such as influences of the element removal ratio, the mesh size and the element type on optimal designs.
