ONSAGER-CASIMIR Relations and Dynamical Optimization Principle

The ONSAGER -CASIMIR reciprocal relations for finite dimensional thermodynamic systems are shown to be closely related to an optimization principle (in the sense of PONTRYAGIN ) for a time integral of entropy. A simple numerical example is given.
