| Abstract: | The quasiconvexity condition and one of its consequences, theGraves condition, are necessary conditions for strong localminimizers in variational problems that involve multiple integrals.Here, these conditions are generalized to integrands that involvederivatives of arbitrarily high order. The interpretation ofthese conditions as material stability conditions in elasticityand related theories is discussed. |
