Mechanical stresses in a long cylindrical current-carrying solenoid |

| Abstract: | Expressions for mechanical stresses and strains in a multilayer cylindrical solenoid carrying direct current are derived and analyzed. The results are valid for both an ordinary and a superconductive solenoid whose length is large compared with its transverse dimensions. |
