| Abstract: | Fluorescence of sterically hindered azo compounds which correlates with photostability in respect to trans-cis isomerisation is reported. Diabatic processes are important for the radiationless deactivation of excited azo compounds in addition to those involving the coupling of the low-lying electronic states. |
