Demodulation of a sinusoidal signal by a reversible electrode and its application to polarography

Abstract:A theoretical analysis of the “faradaic demodulation signal” caused by the non-linearity of the faradaic admittance is given for a plane, stationary electrode with a single step electrode process. It is assumed that mass transfer of the substances involved occurs by diffusion only. The theoretical conclusions are tested and confirmed by polarographic measurements with a dropping mercury electrode (DME).
