Abstract: | A system for continuous purification of water to make it suitable for use in Langmuir film studies has been designed and implemented in our laboratory. The system incorporates particulate filtration, activated carbon adsorption, deionization by reverse osmosis, and continuous distillation under a nitrogen sweep. Surface tension in excess of 99% of theoretical and resistivity of 18 Megohm-cm at 25°C have been achieved without the use of organic ion exchange resins. |
