| Abstract: | Lewis acid-catalyzed reaction of (–)-caryophyllene oxide with phenylmethanethiol gave sulfides with clovane and caryophyllane structure which were oxidized to the corresponding sulfoxides and sulfones in 74 and 84% yield, respectively. |
