| Abstract: | Methyl 3 (3,4 methylenedioxyphenyl)acraldehyde was synthesized through Claisen Schmidt condensation reaction of the heliotropin and propanal with KF/Al 2O 3 as a catalyst, in yield over 80%. The catalytic activity of KF/Al 2O 3 was much higher than that of the common alkali catalysts . The catalyst KF/Al 2O 3 was characterized by BET, TPD, XRD and XPS. The existence of F - and on KF/Al 2O 3 catalyst and their synergetic effects make KF/Al 2O 3 a good catalyst for Claisen Schmidt condensation reaction. |
