| Abstract: | The rate of methane formation on zinc-chromium catalysts is described by zero-order rate law, If the catalyst is activated by copper, the rate of methane formation increases due to a decrease in the activation energy of the reaction. Presumably the formation of methane and methanol takes place on different active centers.
