| Abstract: | Type III secretion systems are used by many gram-negative bacterial pathogens of animals and plants to deliver essential virulence factors into targeted host cells. The identification of chemical compounds that block the function of these systems is the first step toward developing chemical attenuation as an effective method for the treatment of infectious disease. |
